Sonolite Plastics Corporation manufactures all kinds of molded
plastic products at our Massachusetts facility. We can help you
with everything from the selection of plastic molding materials
to the type of tooling required to best produce your plastic parts.
We may even suggest other manufacturing processes (thermoforming,
fabrication, etc.) that may better suit your needs.
What Is Injection Molding?
Injection molded plastics are created by using an injection molding
machine (also called a press), where resins that are fed into an
injection barrel are then heated to the appropriate melting temperature,
and then forced into a metal mold. The mold is then cooled, allowing
the plastic to harden before removing it.
Materials Used In Injection Molded Plastics
Typical materials for injection molded plastics include the following:
- Polystyrene
- ABS
- Nylon
- Polypropylene
- Polyethylene
- Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
Injection Molded Plastic Process
The process of creating your injection molded plastic parts may
include the following:
- Computer Aided Design (CAD) of components
- Rapid Proto-typing
- Design Adjustments
- Mold design and machining
- Manufacturing
- Assembly
- Quality-Control Testing
What types of plastic products do we mold? Everything from
high-volume personal-care products to relatively low-volume plastic
pump-housings. We've seen a lot in our 42 years...
